Managing massive
amount of Data. |

::
According to survey of University of Berkeley about 5 Exabytes of new information has been created in 2002.
This information explosion affects the database
volumes of SAP with a tremendous growth rate reaching
several
Terabytes, OLTP
(Online Transaction Processing) databases of this size are
hard to maintain and tend to perform
poorly.

Recommend solutions for data avoidance and summarizations in
the area of FICO and Retail clients.
|
|
|
|
|
We
recommend the following priorities: |
::
Date Prevention:
Technically, it is possible to deactivate updating for
certain types of data. If from a business
point of view, you do not require this data, you
should deactivate updating. Ex. Table ACCT*
::
Data Aggregation: In
some cases data can be aggregated at a higher level, for
example, by generating totals.
You should use aggregated data if it provides you
with the sufficient level of information that you require
for your
business processes. For Ex. Aggregate PCA (table
GLPCA).
::
Data Summarization: Some
of the transactions that can be summarized are, goods issue,
inventory adjustment,
PO vendor goods receipt and stock transfer order
deliveries.
::
Deletion: You can delete
a lot of data that you do not want to archive soon after it
has been created in your
system. For Ex. Spool data. |
